What You Should Eat for Breakfast Every Day of the Week
If you find me grumpy early in the morning, it’s only because I still didn’t have my breakfast and the grumpiness will only increase till my body doesn’t consume a good fancy meal. Yes, you read it right, it has to be fancy, nutritious, and fulfilling. Are you also conscious and sensitive towards your breakfast?
People who skip morning meals for whatever reason tend to binge eat later in the day. This may include junk, unhealthy snacks, and fast food which shoots the sugar levels of the body dangerously. Starting your day with a nourishing meal adds power and energy to the day.
Let’s make it easier and discuss the items you should have for breakfast every day.
Oats:
They are one of the most nutritious options for breakfast. They keep you fuller for a long period. Oats are insanely nutritious including carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins minerals, antioxidants, and the main one being beta-glucan. Reduced cholesterol and reduced blood glucose levels are one of the main incredible advantages of having oats early in the morning. Overnight oats prepared by adding oats in milk, topping it up with fruits and nuts, and keeping them in the refrigerator for a few hours, is my cherished recipe
Eggs:
A cheese, mushroom omelet with some diced onions and tomatoes with a dash of salt and pepper is my favorite kind of egg intake early in the morning. It brightens up my day immediately. Eggs are a great source of protein and fats which instantly gives you the required energy and keeps you going throughout the day without letting you feel hungry anytime soon. Eggs can be incorporated in different ways like boiled, half-boiled, fried, scrambled, poached, and much more.
Greek yogurt:
I love Greek yogurt but never tried it as a breakfast option. Lately, one fine day when I tried it as the morning meal, it was not only refreshing but also kept me fuller for a longer time. Greek yogurt is packed with protein, calcium, and probiotics to maintain a healthy gut. Topping it with berries and seeds makes it even more wholesome. The creamy texture of Greek yogurt gives a refreshing taste.
Nut and nut butter:
A warm, crisp whole-wheat slice straight out of the toaster with some crunchy peanut butter along with a warm cup of coffee is my breakfast for slow mornings. Nut butters contain protein, antioxidants, minerals, and healthy fats. Different types of nut butter include peanut butter, almond butter, walnut butter, and pecan butter. Peanut and walnut butter are my favorites. They can be mixed with smoothies or used as a dip for fruits as well.
Seeds and Fruits:
They are a great choice for breakfast. Seeds such as flaxseeds and chia seeds are rich in antioxidants and fibers. They are used as a sprinkle on oatmeal, smoothies, or yogurt. Chia seed pudding has been very popular lately and is a fulfilling choice. Almond or coconut milk with some chia seeds, a sweetener of choice topped with berries are the ingredients of pudding.
Fruits such as apples, bananas, and berries including strawberries raspberries, and blueberries are also rich in antioxidants and minerals and replenish the body with the desired nourishment early morning when consumed as breakfast. A banana with a handful of berries is my go-to meal when I am racing against time.
Tea/Coffee:
A hot beverage is an essential part of breakfast for a lot of us. My body doesn’t function until the right dose of caffeine is administered. Coffee not only improves mood and alertness but also boosts physical and mental activity. It is said to have several health benefits which include increasing glucose metabolism hence lowering the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Green, black, and white teas are the different kinds of teas, green tea being the healthiest choice. Teas contain antioxidants and they improve mood and tend to grant a soothing effect. Green tea is said to have a positive effect on weight loss too.
Instead of Tea or coffee, people have started adding drinks like JUJU Glow Freshies Avocado Milk to their morning routine to add the right kick of active ingredients to their body early in the morning. This drink is free from sweeteners and has oral sunblock technology, it boosts collagen and metabolism. You can start your day with this power-packed drink to get that extra energy.
Bottom Line
As my mother always says “Eat your first meal like a king” which signifies that it should be healthy and provide the body with the right amount of nutrients it requires after a whole night of sleep. It’s extremely essential to understand how the human body has gone through a series of tears, repair, and production of cells through the long eight hours of sleep and now it claims a healthy nourishing meal.
In the hustle and bustle of today’s life, we fail to comprehend how important it is to just slow down a bit and enjoy the passing moment or adopt habits that provide long-lasting healthy benefits. Having breakfast is one of them. We need to prioritize our day in such a way that it begins with a nutritious meal and ends with a peaceful night’s sleep.
